The Bath Sing for Life in May 2009 promises to be a feast of music.
On the Friday evening, May 1st the weekend will commence with four concerts at Churches in or close to the centre of Bath. St Mary Bathwick, St Luke’s, Wellsway, St John’s Catholic Church in the centre of the City and St Michael’s which is also in the centre of Bath.

These concerts will feature acclaimed local music groups and Choirs with a range of music from gospel through to classic choral. Choirs featured will include the City of Bath Male Choir (pictured)which is led by Grenville Jones, the organiser of Sing for Life.
Watch this space for details of the Choirs and venues that they will be performing on the Friday – all Friday concert tickets will be priced at £10.
On the Saturday at the Bath Forum, top Choir Conductor Mike Brewer OBE will lead a Worldsong workshop, which will feature hundreds of local young people from across the area, sponsored by Bath Building Society .

The daytime workshop will conclude with an evening concert starting at 7.30pm, which will also feature young local music groups, including the Vocal Works Junior Gospel Choir and the Curtain-Up Theatre Group.
Tickets for the concert will be priced either £15 or £10 and participation in the workshop will be free of charge but there will be limited places available. Apply to Abby Rakes for more details.
Also on Saturday there will be music, music, music in and around the City Centre from buskers on the streets to String Quartets in Bath’s major departmental stores.
Linking with the Bath Dance Festival, there will be a tea dance in the afternoon for you to enjoy.

On Saturday evening the celebrated Rodolfus Choir, conducted by Ralph Allwood will perform in concert at Bath’s historic Abbey, set in the Centre of the City.
The Rodolfus Choir is made up of singers aged 25 and younger who have been chosen from past and present members of the Eton College Choral Courses. Each year these six week-long summer courses attract some 350 students between the ages of 16 and 20, and of these perhaps a dozen are invited to join the Choir as places become vacant. Many of these singers are choral scholars, some are at music college, and most hope to make a career in music. The concert at Bath Abbey on May 2nd is a must for lovers of Choral music.

Clare Teal will be the guest star at the Sunday eveningMay 3rd gig at the Bath Pavilion starting at 8 pm, which is close to the City Centre. Appearances on shows like Parkinson have put Clare at the top of the jazz tree. She is a brilliant live entertainer and this is bound to be a sell out evening featuring also the Stockingtop girls swing group who all hail from around Bath.
Last September Clare was awarded Jazz Vocalist Of The Year 2007 at the British Jazz Awards and in January she presented a series on Radio 2 profiling 1930s singer Al Bowlly and, if further evidence of her multi-faceted talents were needed, Clare also has a weekly lifestyle column in the Yorkshire Post.
Newly signed to the Universal imprint W14 Music, Clare is embracing a return to her first love - JAZZ - with the release in February 2008 of a brand new album Get Happy – don’t miss this Sing for Life gig on Sunday May 3rd.

On the Bank Holiday Monday, May 4th, the Bath Sing for life weekend will come to a close with a fun free picnic in the Royal Victoria Park when we know the sun will be shining! Close by is the annual Bath Spring Flower show which has been a regular event in the City for many years.
