St Mary the Virgin, Bathwick, close to the centre of the City at the end of historic Great Pulteney Street.
St Mary's stands in the Catholic tradition of the Church of England. This is a large church with a superb organ, originally installed in 1878 by Father Willis.
The Bath Minerva Choir and The Paragon Singers
This concert at St Mary Church Bathwick ( a short walk from the the City centre ) brings together two fine choral, yet contrasting, choral groups. Bath Minerva Choir (pictured left) is a non-auditioning choir of over 100 singers performing classical works, with professional orchestras and soloists. In April 2008, new conductor Gavin Carr premiered his talents with Ikons of Serenity ( Russian Masterpieces ) in Bath Abbey, followed by an acclaimed programme of Verdi opera extracts in June in Bath's Assembly Rooms. Gavin, a widely respected singer and musician, is certainly setting new standards with this dedicated group of singers
Paragon Singers (pictured right), formed in 1976, led by one of Bath's leading musicians and conductors, Keith Bennett, specialises in Renaissance, Baroque and contemporary music, and is considered a leading chamber choir in the field of early music in the area. It performs several times a year in Bath and its environs as well as making frequent appearances out of the City. The choir has made concert tours to Kenya, Ireland, France and Holland, having five times visited Alkmaar as guests of its ‘twin choir’, Good Company. This concert is bound to attract audiences from across the region

St Luke's, Wellsway is situated two miles from the centre of Bath. This is a thriving church close to Bath's famous "Shakespeare Avenue's!" St Luke's is an Anglican Church with a large congregation and an active community life in the area it serves.

The Bath Community Gospel Choir - Lifted and The Royal United Hospital Choir
Bath Community Gospel Choir just love to sing! This concert at St Luke's will prove that singing is THE new hobby with two of the Cities great choirs. BCGC is an all-access adult choir for anyone who would loves to sing gospel music. The choir consists of people of all ages who perform a mixture of spirituals, traditional gospel songs R&B, funky-music, and pop gospel… and of course there’s all the swaying and clapping into the bargain! The choir has performed across the West of England including The American Museum, Westonbirt Arboretum and has also worked with Bazil Meade, Director of the London Community Gospel Choir - the top gospel man.
Led by the multi talented Jo Sercombe there will also be a cameo appearance by Jo's Last Choir Standing LIFTED Gospel group (pictured left)and making a special concert night will be the Royal United Hospital Choir led by Jeremy Martin. The Royal United Hospital Choir was started in September 2008 and is open to all staff and volunteers who work at the hospital. It brings people together from across the hospital who may not otherwise meet, and provides welcome relief from the stresses of the working day. It has proved very popular with out 70 enthusiastic members currently singing. St John the Evangelist Catholic Church in the centre of Bath - South Parade (3 minutes from Bath Spa Station and the Royal Hotel, Manvers Street) The church was established in 1861 and consecrated two years later. St John's has a firm reputation for music and a wonderful acoustic.

The man behind the Bath Sing for Life weekend is Grenville Jones and here is a chance to see him in action with two of his choirs. Grenville was Aled Jones' guest on the Radio 3 programme THE CHOIR last September. Aled wanted to know more about the man who has a growing reputation for getting people to sing! The City of Bath Male Choir achieved national acclaim when they reached the top 5 on BBC's Last Choir Standing, singing for an audience of five million viewers, and even more amazing when you consider that Grenville only started the choir in Feb 2006.
Now the choir numbers over 90 singers and this will be a chance to hear them in the splendour of this beautiful city centre Roman Catholic church.
Grenville Jones (pictured left) is also the founder conductor of an exciting new mixed-voice choir THE Bath Chorus who will sing tonight for the first time in concert. When he held an open night in January this year for his new choir, over 150 people went along, such is Grenville's reputation as a conductor and musician. THE Bath Chorus numbers 80 singers and this concert is bound to be a sell out - so book early for a night to remember with "two of the best" led by the man the local newspaper calls "Bath's Mr Music".

St Stephen's Church, Lansdown, is on the northern side of the city - a fine example of Victorian gothic revival architecture. If you drive into Bath from Lansdown (passing the Race Course and Golf Club on your right) you drop down to a junction where St Stephen's Church is set back on your left. This is a popular venue for concerts as the Church has a delightful acoustic and the reputation for giving visitors a warm and friendly welcome.

The Jane Lilley Singers and Bath Cantata Group
The Jane Lilley Singers began 35 years ago with 12 friends singing together for fun! They have now grown in number and reputation, and have been heard all over the world through their many recordings and broadcasts. Led by Jane, a singer and musician respected across the West of England, the Jane Lilley Singers have built up a huge following in the area. A concert with the JLS (as they are known) is bound to delight.They perform a wide repertoire covering everything from sacred and classical to jazz, gospel, folk and pop. Bath has many choirs who perform to the highest standards and the Jane Lilley Singers truly demonstrate that fact.
Bath Cantata Group, conducted by Edna Blackwell, has established a reputation for tackling a wide range of choral music, ancient and modern. They are one of Bath's most popular groups. Over the years, the 40-strong choir has performed hundreds of works, from classic sacred standards like Haydn and Mozart Masses and even one venture into Gilbert and Sullivan. Twentieth century composers such as Benjamin Britten, Lennox Berkeley, Nicolas Maw, Aaron Copland, Bernstein, Poulenc, Stravinsky and Michael Tippett (a former patron and conductor of the group) have featured widely in their programmes.

Rotork Controls Ltd and Buro Happold
Bath will spring to life on Saturday May 2nd. Talented young musicians from Bath Spa University will be playing at City Centre venues, including Jollys in Milsom Street, The Podium Shopping Centre, M&S, BHS and Milsom Place (home to the Jamie Oliver Restaurant!) The Dance Festival also commences with numerous events on the streets, and this is also the first day of the Spring Flower Show at Royal Victoria Park, a short walk from the City Centre.

Saturday at the Bath Forum, in the Centre of Bath, from 10am to 4pm - leading Choir Conductor Mike Brewer OBE will take a workshop based on Worldsong - which was commissioned and first performed in the Schools' Proms 2005. Schools from across the local area will be invited to take part and the day is sponsored by Bath Building Society The daytime workshop will conclude with an evening concert starting at 7.30pm. This will also feature everyone taking part in Worldsong as well as appearances on stage from popular young local music groups, including the Curtain-Up Theatre School, The Bath Youth Gospel Choir and Cantilena...

"One of Britain's very finest young choirs"

Rodolfus is made up of singers aged 25 and younger who have been chosen from past and present members of the Eton College Choral Courses. Many of these singers are choral scholars, some are at music college, and most hope to make a career in music. They were the choir chosen by Katherine Jenkins to sing on her hugely popular CDs, and they have performed all around the World and at many of the leading UK music festivals.
They are regulars on Radio Three Choral Evensong and Songs of Praise. Their programme at Bath Abbey, selected by Ralph Allwood, will encompass a wide range of delights from early to contemporary composers.
This concert is an absolute must for lovers of Choral music.

Guest organist David Goode (pictured above)is Organist and Head of Keyboard at Eton College. He studied the organ with David Sanger and in Holland with Jacques van Oortmerssen. Recent years have seen a rare solo Proms recital, concerts around Europe, the U.S. and Australia, and a fruitful partnership with the BBCNOW in several concerti. His performance of Francis Pott’s Christus was described by the Times as ‘a stupendous achievement.’

Clare Teal In Concert
Clare Teal will be the guest star at the Sunday evening gig at the Bath Pavilion starting at 8pm, which is close to the City Centre. Appearances on shows like Parkinson have put Clare at the top of the jazz tree. She is a brilliant live entertainer and this is bound to be a sell-out evening featuring also the Stockingtop girls swing group who all hail from around Bath and are led by Grenville Jones.
Clare was awarded Jazz Vocalist Of The Year 2007 at the British Jazz Awards and in January she presented a series on Radio 2 profiling 1930s singer Al Bowlly and, if further evidence of her multi-faceted talents were needed, Clare also has a weekly lifestyle column in the Yorkshire Post. Signed to the Universal imprint W14 Music, Clare is embracing a return to her first love - JAZZ - with the release in February 2008 of a brand new album Get Happy - don't miss this Sing for Life gig on Sunday May 3rd.
Also appearing will be the fabulous all girl Stockingtop group - pictured - 30 girls with backing band singing everything from Andrews Sisters to Aguilera! "This stunning, all-girl troupe delivered a lively set full of glitz and glamour" -said Dan Biggane writing in the Bath Chronicle in December . They all hail from the west country and number Simon Cowell and Jamie Cullum amongst their fans! They are led by Grenville Jones, the man behind this charity fundraising weekend of music..
